Indore rejoices over selection as smart city

Published on:

It is indeed a proud moment for the Indore people as Indore has been selected for the smart city project by Central Government and many new schemes for the welfare of common man and infrastructure development will be launched by the Government.

There are many good schemes of the Central and State Government still functioning in Indore for the welfare of common man, interestingly these schemes are going very well on Government files but on grounds these schemes are totally absent.

The recent case is of Government city buses plying by Atal Indore City Transport limited (AICTl) under which the Government has sanctioned 12 buses to ply between Indore-Mhow-Pithampur known as route no 26. Approximately 4 years back out of 12, 8 buses started plying and after few months the number of these buses decreased and now since 2 years these buses have totally stopped plying on Indore-Mhow-Pithampur route. On the other hand the mini buses (upnagriya buses) are plying on Indore-Mhow-Pithampur and these 32 seated buses are carrying more than 80 passengers at a time. These mini buses are overloaded thrice to its capacity and unfit. Many mini buses are plying without permit but Indore RTO never checked these buses since past 1 year on road. Interestingly Indore RTO stops the innocent doctor who is going for some important operation on busy square of Indore confiscates his car but never ever checks these mini buses.

CEO of Atal City Transport limited SDM Sandeep Soni told The Pioneer that we have given notice to the city bus route no 26 operator many times and also suspended him for one year but he again with his influence got attached to AICTl and if he is still not following the orders we will again issue notice to him.
