The commuters faces tough time while plying on the 203 kms long Indore-Icchapur toll road as at many places the four feet broad shoulders which is parallel support of crushed stones and which runs adjacent to both the sides of metalled road supporting the road, and the four wheelers and two wheelers can also use this shoulders during overtake or side parking.
At many places the road and shoulders is not equal there is a difference in the level of the shoulders and roads which vary from 6 inches to 1 feet at many places. The difference in the roads and this shoulders result in the accidents as many four wheelers turns turtle during overtake, also the drivers coming from the opposite side cross themselves very closely avoiding the use of the corner of roads which results the head on collision. There are no sign boards on the road, on the turns and on the road stretch passing through the villages and on the intersecting roads.
There is no white line drawn on both the side of road which continuously runs on the road and indicate the driver for safe drive and there are no white line in the middle of the road which help the drivers coming from opposite side to keep the safe distance and they do not collide head on. The commuters alleged that the road operator who is charging from Rs 50 to Rs 400 at toll booth for different vehicles is not giving them any facility and there life is at risk while moving on this toll road. The road is maintained by state bridge corporation and viva highways pvt limited.
