Close on the heels of Petlawad blast incident that cost 89 lives and many injured, the Indore district administration under strict ruling of the Chief Secretary launched a combing operation against explosive businessmen and manufacturers in the city on Monday.

During the operation, sleuths of the district administration led by  SDM Anil Banwaria raided Khema Industries on Sanwer road and to its utter surprise unearthed huge stock of explosives and fire crackers which far exceeded the stock limit license given by the district administration.

During the raid, the district officials found a stock of over 35,000 kg of firecrackers and explosive at the factory against stock limit license of 1,500 kg. SDM Banwaria said that verification of two explosive licenses received from the factory owner Suresh Gaira revealed that as per the conditions of licenses, the factory was supposed to keep a stock of a maximum of 1,500 kg of explosives and fire crackers. However, the explosive stock recovered from factory far exceeded the permission of actual stock limit. The district administration sealed the factory with immediate effect.

In another similar action, SDM Sandeep Soni sealed the license of three fire cracker shops in Rau locality of the   city on the charge of violating fire crackers license permission.

Taking a leaf from  Petlawad incident state chief secretary Anthony DeSa and the DGP Surendra Sinh through video conference on Monday  directed all the collectors and SPs of the state to check the explosives licenses allotted  to fire crackers manufactures as well as businessmen across the state, categorically asking them to  take stern action against those who would be found to be violating the conditions of explosive licenses. State chief secretary has asked collectors to submit their reports on explosive licenses by October 5 next month.
