In view of the depleting water-level in the region, the district administration in Depalpur tehsil of Indore district has decided to encourage apiculture.

The farmers who are interested in apiculture can contact the SDM office directly, said SDM Aditi Garg.

As the water level of the Depalpur tehsil has gone down and during summers due to the shortage of water many farmers miss their regular farming and also the farmers having sufficient water for their fields can also do this honey farming scientifically known as apiculture.

SDM Depalpur Aditi Garg while talking to The Pioneer told, “We are trying to add more and more farmers to the apiculture as it is cheap in maintenance and gives good earning to the farmers. The government has many beneficial schemes for the farmers including subsidy for the farmers who start this apiculture and proper training will be given to the farmers by the government for this type of farming, it is the part of the agriculture and the advantage of apiculture is more money applying less efforts.”

She further said people are earning lot of money by keeping bees only since there is no need of any labour in this type of agriculture.

The Honey is sold in cities and national and international market too. Honey is very useful for human being as honey cleans blood and arteries.

Use of honey by children increases the memory power at small age.

Bee rearing in a wooden box is also beneficial because it does not harm the bee eggs since it is protected by the wooden box.

Honey can be easily taken out from the box by the bee keeper. The national and international market continuously demands honey.
