The fifth programme under the weeklong celebrations ‘Aao milkar jashn e azadi ka saptah manyae’ (Come celebrate freedom week) organised by Arif Masood Fans Club was held at Kamla Park of the State Capital on Saturday.

Over three dozen students participated in the quiz and debate program held on the occasion. After the contest the winners name were announce by the jury of the day and as per the format of the program prizes would be distributed to them on August 16 in the grand finale of weeklong programs to be held at Itwara Square.

large number of people gathered on the occasion to see children’s debating and participating in the quiz.

Former Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) spokesman Arif Masood who was presiding the program in his address said that without mention of Muslims Indian freedom struggle’s history could not be completed. “Be it the era from Akbar to Bahadur Shah Zafar or the period from martyr Abdul Hameed to late President of India APJ Abdul Kalam, the history of India could not be written without mention of Muslims. Everybody’s blood including that of Hindus and Muslims is incorporated in the freedom of the country,” Masood said.

Masood further said that the Muslims of the country are Indian first than they are something else. Muslims have always proved their loyalty for the country and there is not a single name of Muslim in the list of country’s traitors. Insulting and labeling Muslims in the name of terrorism should be stopped, he added.

He said Muslims are as nationalists as any other majority community person or leader and this has been proved by the community time and again. Unfortunately, there are some political organizations that consolidate their vote bank by targeting Muslims, this should be stopped, he added.
