Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj has said that solution to problem of climate change lies in Indian philosophy and lifestyle. She said that science of safeguarding nature is enshrined in Indian philosophy, lifestyle, traditions and culture. She also said that solution to problems like global warming cannot be found unless lifestyle in accordance with Indian philosophy is not adopted. Therefore, these traditions and culture need to be revived to preserve nature.

She was addressing the concluding function of two-day national symposium on ‘Global Warming and Climate Change  — Towards Solution’ at Vidhan Sabha conference hall here on Sunday. The symposium was organized jointly by EPCO, Narmada Samagra, Madhya Pradesh Jan Abhiyan Parishad and Centre for Community Economics and Development Consultants Society (CECOEDECON) in the context of Simhastha-2016.

Swaraj said that the world is facing two major challenges of terrorism and climate change. Terrorism is attack of human beings on human race and climate change is the result of attack of human beings on nature. The attack began with start of industrialisation in 18th century. Some developed countries who created crisis for Earth due to wanton race of development are now seeking its solution from all the countries.

Swaraj said that development made in artificial manner has become a problem for nature and it is an irony that its artificial solution is being searched. She said that solution cannot be found unless lifestyle is changed. Referring to natural disasters in India due to climate change, she said that it is not caused by India, but even then we wish to become partner in efforts to find its solution. She said that Indic knowledge is totally scientific. She said that carbon credit is being talked about at global level, but green credits should also be given. She said that solution to global warming can be found only then resolve is taken to abandon greed, save Earth from destruction and utilisation of natural resources only as per need.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that ideological Mahakumbh on agriculture, cottage industry, sanitation and Beti Bachao will also be held. Chouhan said that Earth’s natural resources faced crisis due to rise in tendency to use them from materialistic point of view.

Number of equipment emitting carbon has also increased. It has affected agriculture. He said that its effective solution is Rishi farming or organic farming. He said that the organic farming is being done on a large area in Madhya Pradesh, but farmers cannot be coerced for it. They should be motivated through reasoning that organic farming too gives profit in zero budget. Chouhan said that simple and straightforward lifestyle is better solution to environmental problems. He said that small and cottage industries are being promoted on a large scale in the State. local youths are being motivated to establish food processing units in 23 thousand Gram Panchayats in the state.

Vidhan Sabha Speaker Sitasaran Sharma said that along with scientific methods, cultural revival should also be started to solve problems of global warming and climate change. He said that world is facing two major problems global warming and global war, which have assumed alarming proportions now.

MP and Member of Organising Committee Anil Madhav Dave threw lights on discussions made in 15 sessions during both days of seminar. He urged participants and subject experts to ponder over ways to deal with global warming during Simhastha-2016 collectively and individually.
