Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said, “Indian democracy is the most powerful democracy in the world. It is the responsibility of all of us to rise above the party and maintain its dignity.”
He was speaking at the Parliamentary Excellence Award distribution function organized by the MP Vidhan Sabha.
During this, he has appreciated the efforts of Speaker Girish Gautam, who was present on the stage.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Narottam Mishra, Chairman of the selection committee Sitasharan Sharma along with General Secretary in Lok Sabha Utpal Singh were present in the function.
LS Speaker said that in the last 75 years, the faith of the people of the country has increased in democracy. The specialty of the world's most correct and powerful method is told saying that even after more than 17 Lok Sabha and more than 300 assembly elections, the manner of transfer of power in an easy way makes it stand apart in the world.
He raised concern over decline in parliamentary institutions and there is need to pay special attention to this matter so that not only the decency, decorum of the houses are maintained but also the dignity is maintained.
Speaker of the Assembly Girish Gautam announced the awards and described the MLAs as the soul of the assembly and said that the discussion done by them for the welfare of the people here is like boon for masses.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had said that the Vidhan Sabha is not a building of brick and mortar. It is the temple of democracy and the legislator is its soul. Their accountability is towards the people and democracy. Conduct and behavior should be in accordance with dignity.
