Incidence of sex determination in Gwalior under control, claims HM

Published on:

Health and Family Welfare Minister Narottam Mishra chaired a meeting of State Supervisory Board constituted under PNDT Act. He directed for early disposal of pending cases against erring ultra sonography centres.  The Minister said that child sex determination situation in Gwalior and Morena districts has improved following linkage of sonography machines with tracker and compulsory filling of “F” form. This form will be made mandatory in entire state in next one month.

Maintenance of register showing records has been made compulsory in all districts. Due to this, it would be very difficult for a centre to move from one district to another. Union Minister for Women and Child Development Maneka Gandhi has sought information recently about tracking system introduced in Madhya Pradesh for effective curb on female foeticide. Following assessing success of this system started in some districts, it may be implemented in entire country. Tracking machine is directly linked to sonography machine, containing its entire record. Due to this machine, sonography centres cannot hide or deny any fact.

Emphasis was laid at the meeting on tracking system and online “F” form in the cities of states adjoining Madhya Pradesh border so that people from state cannot indulge in female foeticide by visiting those cities.  The meeting discussed quarterly report, inspections under Hamari Bitiya Abhiyan, inspections by vigilance teams, action taken against violation of Act, awareness activities regarding ban on selective foeticide etc.
