Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday said that in democracy the Chief Minister was just a servant of the people and his works were to formulate beneficial schemes in the interest of people.
While addressing a public meeting during his ongoing Jan Ashirwad Yatra in Punasa, Chouhan said, “I never run the Government as the king but I have run it as the head of a family.” He said that the main opposition Congress of the State was passing through a tough time and it did not have any scheme and policy for the benefit of the people, whereas the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government had made many schemes and had done development works in the State.
He further claimed that his Government had done enough ‘innovative’ works for supplying round the clock electricity in the villages and made agriculture a profitable business for better lifestyle of farmers. The BJP Government had taken many steps to exalt the farmers including providing them loans at zero per cent interest, crop insurance in case of crops damage and providing facility for depositing electricity bills twice in a year, he added.
Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister started his day by paying floral tributes to the Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi and late Prime Minister lal Bahadur Shastri on their birth anniversaries. After reaching Khargone the Chief Mnister said, “ The development works done by the BJP Government of the State during the past 10 years were ten folds more than the works done by Congress in its 50 year rule over the State.”
He said that during the past decade over 95 thousand kilometres roads have been constructed in the State and round the clock electricity supply was made in both urban and rural areas. While during the Congress regime the roads were shabby and the whole State was lying in dark, he added.
