Improve the system by making more than one selling point

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that despite adequate availability in the state, the complaints of farmers regarding non-availability of fertilisers at some places should be resolved immediately.

The Central Government is also extending full cooperation in providing fertilisers to Madhya Pradesh as per the requirement. There are also discussions with the Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilisers Mansukh Lal Mandaviya from time to time and the supply of fertilisers to the farmers of the state has been going on without any hindrance.

CM Chouhan was reviewing the fertiliser distribution work in the state in a meeting held at his residence on Wednesday.

In the meeting it was agreed to make more than one selling point of fertiliser by Markfed and to ensure storage before the stock is exhausted. This work will be done after continuous review. Chief Minister Chouhan said that sufficient quantity of fertiliser is available in the state. In such a situation, such arrangements should be ensured by Markfed and other related organisations so that there is no complaint of non-availability of fertilisers from anywhere. CM Chouhan said that it is necessary to assure the farmers that fertilisers are available in sufficient quantity. Unnecessary storage should also not be done on the basis of apprehension of its non-availability at any stage.

Chief Minister Chouhan directed that complaints about non-availability of fertilisers should not be received from farmers, for this purpose dialogue should be held with the farmers. If there is any flaw in the distribution of fertilisers, then improve the arrangements. While reviewing the arrangements for fertilisers in the state, CM Chouhan asked the officers to redress the complaints received from some districts without delay.

Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains, while participating virtually in the meeting, said that no such complaints had come last year. Joint efforts are yielding good results. All the concerned departments and institutions are monitoring together. Micro management is essential for the distribution of fertilisers. Detailed instructions have been given to the concerned officials.

Additional Chief Secretary, Farmers' Welfare and Agriculture Development Ajit Kesari informed that sufficient quantity of fertilisers is available in the state. Fertiliser rakes are continuously being received from the Central government on the demand of the state.

In the recent review, it has been revealed that less than 70 percent quantity of Urea, DAP fertilisers has been lifted in the cooperative sector. Instructions have been given to the District Marketing Officers to ensure systematic arrangements for the farmers who want fertilisers at the cash selling centres.

Urea 19.09 lakh metric tonnes, DAP 9.80 lakh metric tonnes, NPK 3.42 lakh metric tonnes and SSP 8.58 lakh metric tonnes are available in the state from April to October 11. There has been more storage of each fertiliser in the period under review than last year. But sales are less than last year and balance stock quantity is Urea 2.51 lakh metric tonnes, DAP 1.98 lakh metric tonnes, NPK 1.31 lakh metric tonnes, SSP 3.50 lakh metric tonnes. The expected fertiliser quantity to be received this month is 11.84 lakh metric tonnes.
