Illegal mining rampant in brick kilns

Mhow Tehsil has become an easy target of illegal mining and bricks kiln mafia as the latter has encroached more than 50 acres of State Government land and cantonment board land which is defence land in Kishanganj area. These operations run over more than 200 brick kilns and the owners sell around 5 lakhs of products everyday costing around Rs25 lakhs.

They have encroached the Government land near the river side and are getting the free water supply from there. The raw material soil is supplied to them by the illegal mining who dig the Government land in most of the villages of Mhow tehsil and transport to these brick kilns by means of tractor, trolleys and trucks. More than 500 trolleys come to this brick kilns every day and supply soil to this brick kilns.

It is to be noted the State Government land which is illegally getting dug is cultivable land and it takes thousands of years for the soil to become fertile. CEO Cantonment Board Mhow R RPanwar told, “I have just joined and I too received the complaints of these illegal brick kilns. The brick kilns will be shut very soon”. ADM Indore Sudhir Kochhar told The Pioneer, “We have received the complaint and very soon we will raid the brick kilns and confiscate the vehicles involved in illegal mining and arrest the guilty”.
