Good news for city art students. Elementary & Intermediate Drawing Grade examination of Maharashtra State will be conducted in Bhopal from this year.
Ankur Higher Secondary School located on Main Road No-1, 74 Bungalows will be the centre for these examinations. Till now students had to go to Indore or Ujjain for this exam. Instituted in 1880 by old Bombay State for the purpose of art education, Elementary and Intermediate Grade examination has 18 students for the first ever examination. Today, around 3 lakh students appear for this examination and these examinations are conducted and recognised in the states of Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh etc. The main purpose is to encourage and develop the art education amongst young aspiring individuals.
The examination will be conducted by Directorate of Art, Maharashtra State, Mumbai, and will be held in the last week of September. Intermediate Drawing Grade examination, popularly known as IGD is recognised as a basic qualification for students seeking admission to courses in Fine Arts, Design, Architecture, Applied Arts etc in prestigious institutions like JJ School of Arts & Architecture, Mumbai and is even advantageous for those desiring their career in fashion.
This exam is even beneficial in cases of some IT & vocational engineering courses. The IGD examination is a unique course which gives a chance to prove in this competitive era. Its well designed syllabus consists of six subjects, namely still life, nature drawing, memory drawing, design, freehand drawing and geometry and lettering, all of which will be evaluated upon individually. Anyone can participate in the exam and judge their drawing skills. There is no age limit to appear. The fee structure of intermediate drawing grade examination (IGD) is very nominal. Ankur School is also making arrangement for specialised training for preparation of IGD exams.
