The i-bus service on BRTS corridor of the city will be running up to Pipliyapala Regional Park. This was decided in a review meeting of the BRTS here on Wednesday.
Currently, the district administration is running i-buses on the BRTS corridor under the paid trial run from Niranjanpur Square up to Rajiv Gandhi Square in Bhanwarkuwan.
However, in a review meeting on Wednesday, the district administration has decided to extend running of i-buses up to Pipliyahana Regional Park for the convenience of commuters. To conduct the running of i-buses two bus stops would be constructed near the Regional Park, said Collector Akash Tripathi, while chairing the review meeting. IMC Commissioner Rakesh Singh, ACTCl CEO Sandip Soni and officials of the departments concerned were also attended in the meeting.
It was also informed in the meeting that work for installation of traffic signals at all the Squares on BRTS Corridor was underway and some poles of traffic signals have already been installed. If the work continued at its present pace, all automatic traffic signals on the BRTS Corridor will become operation by August 15 next month. For effective monitoring, CCTV cameras will also be installed at all bus stops. Besides, work on inviting tenders for installation of ATM machines at BRTS bus stops is also underway, as informed in the meeting. In the meeting, Collector gave necessary directives to overcome difficulties being experienced during the trial run of i-buses and ensure uninterrupted power supply at all bus stops. Taking a serious note of incidents of uprooting of railing and opposition to erection of railings at some portions of the BRTS corridor, Collector directed authorities concerned to lodge FIRs against such persons.
Collector also asked officials to ensure proper drainage of rain water on the BRTS corridor which in the recent past got inundated with rainwater during the heavy downpours in the city, thereby creating traffic bottleneck on the BRTS.
