Hundreds of students passed in written examination with flying colours but, failed in practical examination, such absurd incident occured in Diploma in Education (DEd) examination in District Institution for Education and Training (DIET).
In the first year examination of DEd students secured high marks in the written examination but failed in the practical examination. If it would have been case of few students then, their performance in practical examination would have been blamed but, here hundreds of students failed in the practical examinations.
According to sources, institution administration did not have complete information of the examination. Besides the written examination, practical examinations were conducted for the course of 75 marks each.
The passing percentage in written and practical examination were fixed at 50 per cent of the marks which means students needed to secure at least 38 marks in the each type of paper.
While the examiners gave marks to students considering 33 per cent of marks as passing in practical examination, students were given marks between 25 and 35 marks due to which all the students of the institute failed in practical examination by 3 to 13 less marks.
If the DIET administration does not take any action in the matter then hundreds of students may loose their one academic year. Students have raised the issue with DIET administration and higher authorities but no action has been taken yet.
DIET Principal Ramadhar Malviya said that the matter has come up with institution administration and a investigation committee has been formed to investigate the practical marks issue.
DIET will reorganise practical examination again in the month of June. Students should approach institution for reexamination.
