Though cloudy weather conditions persisted throughout yesterday and today, there were no rains, causing the humidity and temperature to soar, making life miserable for the citizens. The monsoon has already missed its date with the city, and according to weathermen there is no noticeable movement of the monsoon towards the city. However, a dust storm followed by slight drizzles in some parts of city brought temperatures down slightly, bringing brief relief from the severe hot conditions that have been prevailing for over close to two months. But with the sun coming out and no rains in sight the humid and hot conditions were once again back.
Strong winds followed by light drizzles uprooted a few trees in the Hajira area besides causing the stage and the pavilion built for the Governor at the Veerangana Mela premises to partially collapse. The city is also reeling in sultry conditions as the dust cloud continues to hang in the atmosphere.
According to the met department while the city is yet to herald the monsoon, it is still too early to declare it a ‘monsoon delay.’ They added that a system had developed locally, giving hopes of good rains but the strong winds blew away the rain clouds, hence the humid and dry conditions.
