A 20-year old youth was nabbed with cannabis worth Rs80000 from Chola Mandir area late in the evening on Saturday; nabbed drug peddler has been booked for more than a dozen crimes, said police.
According to the police acting on a tip-off regarding a youth who was roaming suspiciously was detained by the police and when he was searched drugs worth Rs 80000 was seized from his possession.
The nabbed accused was identified as Sudhir alias Kalla Kuchbandhiya (20).
Police said that the accused was carrying drugs but he was waiting for customer to deliver the drugs or he was trying to sell the drugs in the area could be ascertained and would be investigated.
In the initial investigation when the accused was searched drugs were recovered in a white coloured bag. The drugs weighed around 4 kg.
The nabbed accused has been booked for around a dozen cases of extortion, attempt to murder, burglary, theft and drug peddling.
After the preliminary investigation police have registered a case under NDPS Act and have started further investigation.The accused is a resident of Gareeb Nagar in Chola area and is a habitual offender.During the investigation police found that the accused was involved in the drug peddling for past few years but managed to escape arrest.
The source of purchase of drugs and the customers who purchase drugs from the accused would be investigated.
Network of supply and demand and nexus working behind the drug trafficking would be unearthed claimed the police.
