To check the deaths of the pregnant women, Madhya Pradesh Human Rights Commission (MPHRC) has on Monday made several recommendations.
While making recommendations over the incidents of unavailability of 108 ambulance or janani suraksha vehicle, Commission has recommended that the phone numbers of Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO), civil surgeon and block health officer should be provided to the asha workers and anganwadi workers so that the workers could inform the officials to get the pregnant women admitted in the hospital within time.
Commission recommended that the CMHO and block health officer should be informed about the pregnant women of their areas. This is the duty of the officials to get the pregnant women admitted in the hospital within the time in order to stop the deaths of pregnant women.
Commission has made these recommendations during the hearing of cases of death of pregnant women due to unavailability of the 108 ambulances in Ashoknagar, Sehore, Satna, Betul and Sagar.
Meanwhile, in a separate hearing, Commission has made recommendation in an incident in which a pregnant woman died as the operation theatre was closed.
In its recommendation, Commission has stated that information should be available in every health centre regarding the referral of the patients to other hospitals in case the operation theatre of the district hospital or any other hospital is closed. CMHO, civil surgeon and health services’ joint director should take the decisions regarding this and should aware the related officials so that no person could die due to this.
Commission has recommended that the health directorate must be informed about the closure of the operation theatre to make the necessary optional arrangements.
