A 29-year-old married woman who set herself ablaze on June 28 at Anna Nagar under Nishatpura police station area, died on Thursday night at Hamidia hospital.
According to the police the victim Shadab Bee committed suicide by setting her ablaze.
The victim was rushed to private hospital but later the doctors of the hospital referred the victim to Hamidia hospital where she was undergoing treatment at the burns ward.
Initially the condition of the victim was stable but later the condition of victim deteriorated and she succumbed to death on Thursday.
After preliminary investigation the body was sent for the post mortem. After the post mortem the body was handed over to the family for performing the last rites.
The police have registered a case under section 174 of the CrPC and have started further investigation.
Victim’s husband Imran Khan and the in-laws would be questioned as it has not been confirmed that the victim committed suicide or she was set ablaze by her family members at her in-laws’ house.
The whole incident occurred under suspicious circumstances as there was no reason found behind the victim’s extreme step of setting herself ablaze.
In the investigation police have found that the victim was facing issues with in-laws and family members and it is possible that angered with the victim over the issues they have done the evil act but at the moment it is not possible to ascertain the truth behind the death.
Police said that the family members of the victim and neighbours of their in-laws would be questioned during the investigation.
