Hospital staff accused of graft

Published on:

The Government has made tall promises of free treatment at various Government hospitals, but the patients are being treated only when they give bribe to the hospital staff.

Madhya Pradesh Human Resource department has received such complaints from the relatives of patients regarding Government hospitals. This is the real picture of Government hospitals in Gwalior, Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur and other parts of the State.

Other complaints that were related to the hospitals were that after delivery, the relatives are not allowed to see the face of infant untill they bribe the hospital staff.

Health Director Dr KK Tassu was surprised after receiving such complaints. Dr Tassu has charged the CMHO, civil surgeon and instructed them to submit their report within one week. All the CMHOs, civil surgeons and medical officers were instructed to take immediate action in medical departments’ complaint. Besides, Dr KK Tassu has instructed to review the medical department complaints.

Most surprising issue that has come to the knowledge of Dr Tassu that the serious patients were not treated and they were also not referred to other places. Due to this, patients died and the complaints against hospitals are delayed in medical investigation. Problems like unavailability of anti-rabies injection, unavailability of bed-sheets and blankets are also faced. Further, patients of TB were also not given proper medication.

Complaints comprise of insulting behaviour of hospital staff, in delivery cases they need bribe, medicines have to be bought from the market, patients were called in private hospitals and serious patients were not treated in time. Staff nurses and paramedical staff members are applying sutures.
