Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Bhupendra Singh on Wednesday assured the Assembly that the regime would consider coming out with a provision of distribution of compensation in special cases.
Raising the issue during the Question Hour, Mukesh Nayak of Congress sought to know whether the dispensation has a policy for distribution of compensation in the context of incidents similar to Mandsaur or whether it depended upon the discretion of the Chief Minister and the regime.
In his reply, Singh said that the Revenue Book Circular (RBC) contained provisions for providing relief damage to property and other losses. “Nonetheless, the Chief Minister has special discretionary powers. He can provide relief from the Chief Minister’s Discretionary Fund in addition to the relief amount in serious matters,” he said.
The Minister said that the dispensation has no concrete policy in this regard but would consider formulating it. In response to an associated query by Shailendra Patel of Congress, he said that assessment of loss in places other than Mandsaur is underway and compensation would be provided on similar terms.
Meanwhile, Ramniwas Rawat of Congress whose question was also clubbed with Nayak’s query raised objection to his query being taken along with Nayak’s query as both queries were not similar.
He said that his question concerned about principal demands of peasants, its effects, officials who ordered firing in Mandsaur, agitators who were sent to jail and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s announcements in this regard. Mr Singh assured the member to provide written response to his queries.
In the meantime, Rawat also had exchanges with Forest Minister Gaurishankar Shejwar.
