The theatre buffs of the city took full-fledged pleasure of the dramas belonging to different genres. Two Hindi plays, ‘Itihas Chakra’ and ‘Chukayenge Nahi’ were staged here on Sunday at Shaheed Bhavan Auditorium. It was a part of a five day theatre festival ‘Navrang’ organized by Madhya Pradesh School of Drama (MPSD). Hindi play ‘Itihas Chakra’ was directed by Richa Tiwari from Hoshangabad. Further, the second play ‘Chukayenge Nahi’ was directed by Sarwar Ali and Amita Sanauriya from Chandigarh.
Itihas Chakra was a play about the changes in the society but it also showcased that the world is round. It wonderfully showed that history repeats itself one or the other time which will led the person into a huge whirl of worries. The next play Chukayenge Nahi was a play directed by Sarwar Ali and Amita Sanauriya from Chandigarh. `Chukaynge Nahi is an adaptation of Dario Fo`s classic socio political satire which is very much applicable even in these contemporary times. Due to corrupt administration, inflation and violation of basic fundamental basic rights and how these factors affect to the plight of a common man and his struggle with the daily sustenance is the theme of the play.
The play draws its inspiration from the existing middle class and its struggle with the daily nitty gritty of a common life, caught in the turmoil of socio political upheavals. It is a situational comedy based on these factors, full of satire, humor, pathos and hope. The original play was written during autoriduzione (self-reduction) movement, during an economic crisis in Italy, in which women and men would take what they wished from markets, only paying for what they could afford. In the current state of the country, a lot many people would want to do that. In the play the artists showcased what would happen if the people would actually did so.
The entire play is set in a working class man’s house. The lower middle class woman becomes a part of spontaneous uprising at the local super market and comes home with lots of household material without paying for it. The satirical and comic play engaged the audience into a huge laughter. It was an enthralling experience for the theatre buffs.
