When somebody died in a family, it was a moment for them to rejoice and enjoy. Their children become happy as they would now get something to eat and drink. These people are those who work at the crematorium.

A Hindi play ‘Raakh Se Uda Panchi’ showcasing the dark side of the society was staged at Shaheed Bhavan auditorium on Monday. It was performed as a part of the two day theatre festival Punaravlokan.

Directed by a young playwright of the city Siddharth Dabhade, the play was beautifully performed by the artists of Trikarshi theatre troupe, Bhopal.

The play focused on the pain, grief and struggle of those who do not even get a single bread of the day. The social evils like hunger, unemployment and poverty were highlighted in this play.

The play tells the story of a very poor family. The head of the family works as a crematorium employee. Dreaming blissful future for his children, he works hard. But, what his destiny store for him is beyond his dreams. For days they have nothing to eat. The family suffers poverty and then there is happy news for them; someone dies.

The interactive dialogues made the play even more interesting to watch. The heart melting concept of the play made the theatre buffs emotional. The little artists gave scintillating performance on stage and the entire drama work was much appreciated by the audience.

Director of the play Siddharth Dabhade said, “This is the irony of the world and at the same time makes us sad that when a person dies, there are people who become happy. Someone’s death helps these people to earn bread; they get to eat and to wear cloths. The plight of these people was shown in the play.”
