It is sometimes hard to understand the mind and the heart of a child. Their love, their hatred all is unknown to people but better known to them. The story of love, jealousy and hatred was showcased through a Hindi play Mamtaz Bhai Patangwaley.

Directed by Sachin Malvi, the play was beautifully presented by the Natya Ganga theatre troupe Chhindwara.

The play Mamtaz Bhai Patangwaley captures the essence of childhood and took the audience on a journey of differently other world. The story of the play revolves around a small child Bikki and the ‘The’ Mamtaz Bhai famous as ‘Patangwaley’, known to be the ultimate and the best kite flier of the world.

Mamtaz Bhai is not less than a hero to Bikki. He admires him at its best. But, what makes their story a bitter one follows the story.

Bikki is a young lad who loves flying kites. Not just any kites but the kites he buys from his hero, Mumtaz Bhai's shop. But this isn't something his mother thinks much of. Even his teacher, Avasthi Sir discourages the habit. They all tells Bikki to stop flying kites.

But, that was not enough for Bikki, especially when he thinks to be the master of the skies. Bikki finds distractions and encouragement in the form of his sister and friend Anand and Mumtaz Bhai, who entertains him with his own brave conquests as a kite flyer and feeds his ego with praises.

But as it is with all childhood heroes who make them so attractively achievable, this one too has a fall. When Bikki spying on Mumtaz Bhai sees him with his family, something struck his mind. He swears to give up kite flying and burns down Mumtaz Bhai's shop in a fit of insanity.

Years later Bikki now Vivek returns, to see Mumtaz Bhai for the last time. What holds him back with the bitter-sweet tale formed rest of the story.
