The situation of the society was explained hilariously through a Hindi play Dastaan-e-Danapur. The play was staged here on Sunday at Shaheed Bhavan.
It was performed under the Bhopal Rang Theatre Festival.
The play depicted the reality of society through a comedy play. The play showcased how people of different professions love to woo the elite class people. They would go to any extent to impress them. In this, the common man suffers a lot.
Dastaan-e-Danapur is directed by Sandeep Shrivastava and was brilliantly performed by the artists of Pahuna theatre troupe, Tikamgarh. The artists brought the characters alive with their brilliant performance. The audience could feel the connectivity with the real life instances that were happening on stage.
The play surrounds the life of Diwan Sahab, a doctor, a judge, a postman and a cop. All these professionals are always trying to impress Diwan Sahab.
Diwan Sahab was one of the richest men of Danapur and could give any amount of money to get his work done. So these professionals never leave any stone unturned to impress Diwan Shaab. This always led them to ignore the common man.
The people of Danapur were really troubled and angry. Once, news was spread in Danapur that two cops from New Delhi will be visiting the town disguising themselves as common people.
As the news spread, all the corrupt officials started to hide their wrongdoings including Diwan Sahab. But instead two cops, two thieves were on runaway and reached Danapur.
Everybody thought they are the secret agents from New Delhi. The results then were hilarious. The play was wondrously performed leaving the audience in whirl of laughter.
