While the PCC has decided to appoint new Bhopal District Congress Committee (DCC) president soon, hectic lobbying for this coveted post has commenced. A section of the partymen feel that Bhopal requires a Muslim leader on the post.
State Congress president Arun Yadav who was facing stiff opposition within the party quarters after declaring the state body has once again become dearer and is surrounded by those leaders who either want to become DCC president or wish to become spokesman of state organization.
Amid murmurs of appointment of new DCC chief, demand to appoint Muslim leader on this coveted post has also been started by the supporters of the leaders of the community. In the race for the new DCC president are mostly those who were dropped from the State body, including former state minority department chairman Mohammed Saleem, former state spokesman Arif Masood, former state secretary Nasir Islam, former Bhopal District Youth Congress (BDYC) president Asmat Siddiqui and others. Interestingly all these leaders have one or the other time remained BDYC president and are claiming for the post on the basis of that only.
Though, insiders from the party did not ruled out the possibility of only Muslim MlA of the party Arif Aqueel to get nominated for the top job of state capital’s Congress organization. Aqueel is the Muslim face of the party in the state and is angry with the party on being dropped out of the state organization. This could be done to pacify the soaring legislator and senior leader, said a loyalist of the state Congress president.
Claim of Mohammed Saleem is also strong as he was denied of the party ticket in the assembly election with the promise to get accommodated after the elections. He is also having organizational management skills as he has earlier served the organization as BDYC president and as the chairman of minority department of state.
Whatever, the decision may come but those desirous of occupying the post of DCC chief have started visiting their mentors in Bhopal and national capital New Delhi to please them for getting their favors. While, Yadav has also got relieved as most of his opponents in the state have gone busy either in supporting their disciples for DCC or are lobbying for them to get birth in the media department of the state that is also expected to get revamped sometime near Diwali festival.
