Met department has issued a warning of heavy rainfall within 48 hours in the State capital. Acting upon this warning, Bhopal Collector Nishant Warbade decided to close all the schools in Bhopal district on Wednesday.
The Collector in his orders on Tuesday told all the schools of the district to remain close d on Wednesday.
After it rained the whole day on Tuesday, the weathermen said, “low pressure intensified over the larger part of the State has converted into a depression and may experience heavy rainfall.”
The rain during the last week in Bhopal and other parts of the State has reduced the gap between the normal rainfall and the deficit rains. According to the local weather office, the State received 43 per cent lesser rains in the month of June but the figure came down to just 31 per cent by July 20. Moreover, the gap came down from 60 per cent to just 30 per cent in the State capital. The figure could further go down due to the heavy rains in the city on Tuesday. The city has till now received 27.32 centimeter of rains till now.
Met department, Bhopal circle officials said weather pattern active in Bay of Bengal has moved through Orissa and Chhattisgarh and is likely to reach Madhya Pradesh in the next 24 hours.
In a warning issued on Tuesday, "Very heavy rain" is likely in some parts of Jabalpur, Sagar, Shahdol and Rewa divisions in next 24 hours. Besides "heavy showers" are likely in Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior Chambal, Bhopal and Hoshangabad divisions.
Heavy rains lashed the city in the evening on Sunday. Pouring started from late night on Monday continued for whole of the day. As monsoon is active in the state, all the districts of Bhopal, Hoshangabad, Rewa, Jabalpur and Sagar received heavy to moderate rains on Sunday. Many parts of Indore, Chambal and Gwalior division also received rains. The weatherman has forecast that monsoon would be active throughout the State and heavy rains are likely in the next two three days.
