After pounding sun till noon parts of the State capital witnessed heavy rains in the afternoon that lasted for over an hour. The roads were watelogged at many places in the city due to heavy rains including MP Nagar, link Road, Jyoti Talkies area and at some places in walled city; though there were many places in the city that did not witnessed rains.
According to the met office, the rains were due to the ‘local system’. According to met scientists a system has started forming in the Bay of Bengal due to that moisture is coming in Madhya Pradesh. Due to increase in the moisture clouds were formed and started raining. The met office has also predicted heavy rains in many parts of the State in the next 24 hours.
It was sunny day till afternoon and the clouds started gathering in the sky and within few minutes at around 4 pm, it started raining all of a sudden, affected the smooth traffic on the roads.
