Heavy rain cuts off many areas in State

The delayed monsoon that reached the State Capital on Monday also brought along with problems for the residents.  Several places in the State were disconnected for road transportation. Farmers waiting for good rain have started sowing due to abundant water in their fields but those who had sown earlier might be hit by the heavy rains. The Met department has issued warning of heavy rain across the State except a few regions of north-eastern Madhya Pradesh.

According to the Met department continuous rainfall would be witnessed. Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior, Chambal and Jabalpur divisions would receive heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours.  The rain would be witnessed for the next 2-3 days.

A low pressure area over the eastern part of the State has induced good rain and the rain would be witnessed until the system weakness or moves. Bhopal (city) recorded 11.8 mm of rainfall while Bairagarh recorded 12.1 mm of rainfall.

Indore recorded 40 mm of rainfall while Gwalior recorded 23.7 mm of rainfall. Among the major cities Jabalpur has received 4.3 mm of rainfall. Water bodies across the State have swollen and several regions of the State have lost road connectivity.

The swelling of Betwa in Raisen region has submerged National Highway-86. Due to the swelling of Betwa the water level reached four metre above the Pagneshwar bridge. Due to the high level of water road connectivity between Salamatpur and Sanchi has broken which has led to huge traffic jams on both sides of the bridge. If the rain continues the conditions would worsen.
