A joint team of Health department and Integrated Child-Development services under the Dastak Campaign came across the acute malnourished child name Udayraj Kaul at Kharpa village district Shahdol. On examination, weight of 11 months old Udayraj s/o Bharatraj Kaul was found only 5 kg and hemoglobin was 6.2 gram per cent.
Apprising about the serious ill effects of the acute malnutrition, the team persuaded the parents of Udayraj to admit him in the Nutrition rehabilitation center of Biyohari. On receiving information, the team of health and child-development proceeded immediately by free Janni express to admit Udayraj in the Nutrition rehabilitation center of Biyohari. Special treatment has begun at the center.
Bharatraj has informed that Udairaj is his first son and he has been fed pulse water and rusk from the age of 8 months. Moreover, Udairaj’s mother said that he is suffering from cough/cold and fever from last few months. The team has explained the parents that inadequate mother’s milk and insufficient and improper diet is the main reason for low weight and acute malnourishment. It is necessary for the health of the child to give fresh cooked food, fruits beside breastfeeding after attaining 6 months of age. The team has also apprised parents about proper diet and prevention from diseases like dysentery, pneumonia etc.
