The Madhya Pradesh High Court at Jabalpur termed the strike of Adhyapak cadres of teachers as unconstitutional and instructed them to return to work. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan soon after the High Court order, tweeted an appeal to the agitating teachers to start executing their duty.
The adhyapak cadres of teachers from the State are on agitation in the State capital for last eleven days demanding their services to be merged in education department and outright payment of sixth pay commission. The State Government has claimed on Tuesday that it is working for these cadres but the agitating teacher cadres do not agree with Government claims.
The hearing on teachers’ agitation going on under the banner of ‘Azad Adhyapak Sangh’ was held in the High Court on Wednesday. The High Court while hearing termed the agitation unconstitutional instructed the Adhyapaks to return to work at the earliest else strict action would be taken against them by the Government. Advocate Vijay Soni had filed a Public Interest litigation (PIl) against the agitation in the court.
But, the agitating adhyapak’s frowns have not gone soft despite government’s tough stance as the adhyapaks working in state capital and its surrounding areas have extended their mass leave till Friday. Many schools are closed. Adhyapaks are saying that they are waiting for the outcome of the meeting of their representatives with the Commissioner Public Education (CPE) DD Agarwal scheduled on Thursday. If no positive result comes out of the meeting than all the adhyapaks of the state would reach Bhopal on Friday and would do a mega protest rally.
Shaskiya Adhyapak Sangathan’s Upendra Koshal and Jitendra Shakya speaking over the entire issue said that over 900 adhyapaks of the total 1,500 from over 650 schools of Bhopal district are on leave till Friday.
