Providing major relief to the Shivraj Singh Chouhan led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government of State the Madhya Pradesh High Court on Wednesday rejected all the petitions demanding Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into one of the biggest education scam in the State.
The Madhya Pradesh High Court has ordered special task force (STF) to continue with its investigation under it’s monitoring. In its 106 page judgement, court has ordered STF to submit copy of all FIRs related to the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) before it by April 25.
About 13 petitions including, five by the Congress and other people were filed in court. The decision can be considered a shock for Congress who were trying to corner the BJP State Government over the issue since long.
Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee chief spokesperson KK Mishra while talking to The Pioneer over the issue said, “We would challenge this decision in the Supreme Court, it is not a matter or political rivalry or personal vendetta, it is a matter of hundreds of thousands of students who were cheated by those involved.”
Mishra was also one of the petitioners seeking CBI probe for the MPPEB considered probably as the biggest education scam of the country.Mishra and others had moved Jabalpur high court demanding CBI investigation of this scam alleging that BJP Government may influence the investigation of STF as some of its Minister’s were involved.
The Opposition Congress had been vocal in demanding CBI probe of the scam in the State Assembly and after failing to get house nod for that reached the High Court. The scam came to light in July 2013 after alleged irregularities were found in the state’s Pre-Medical Test (PMT) and in the recruitment for various government posts, including contractual teachers. It is being probed by Madhya Pradesh Special Investigation Team (SIT).
