Madhya Pradesh High Court has directed to maintain status quo in the controversial Bhopal Division Cricket Association (BDCA) and issued notices to the concerned parties over the election of president of the association.

The petition was filed by Congress MlA Arif Aqueel, who was declared elected as President of the BDCA in an election on February 13.

The other faction led by BJP MlA Dhruv Narayan Singh, who was President of BDCA before, boycotted the February 13 polls and held elections of its own but it was not accepted by the parent body, Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) Aqueel was elected Aqeel as president.

Dhruv Narayan faction petitioned the Registrar of Firms and Societies which nullified the polls held on February 13. The Congress MlA contended that the association has strength of 151 members while BJP MlA submitted a list of 252 members to the Registrar to prove that faction led by him has majority.

Aqeel alleged that a conspiracy was hatched to alter the voters' list under the pressure of the ruling party and challenged the order of Registrar Firm and Societies in the district court but it was dismissed following which he filed an appeal in the high court.

Aqeel has moved the Madhya Pradesh high court challenging the Firm and Society's order that recognised BJP MlA Dhruv Narayan Singh as the unit's chief. The single-judge bench directed of Menon the Dhurv Narayan to file their replies in four weeks.
