Happy New Year evokes overwhelming response

The much awaited Bollywood film — Happy New Year - released here on Friday evoked an overwhelming response from Bhopalites.

Starring big names of Bollywood like Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bacchan, Sonu Sood, Boman Irani, Jackie Shroff and introducing Vivaan Shah, the film is written and directed by Farah Khan. Happy New Year is produced by Red Chillies Entertainment, a Gauri Khan Production, and is wonderfully shot in the streets of Dubai.

The film is a heist drama film and is all about a bunch of losers planning the biggest robbery ever.

Happy New Year is a very well adaptation of several films and the foundation that the slightly shaky plot stands on borrows heavily from films like After The Sunset, Ocean’s 13 and Henry’s Crime.

Charlie (Shah Rukh Khan) wants to take a revenge of his father’s (Anupam Kher) death from Grover (Jackie Shroff). Charlie along with five other characters plan a diamond robbery, the diamonds that once belonged to Mughals are kept in a safe in a hotel owned by Grover at Dubai. To make their plan a success, the six characters participate in the dance competition. Now their aim is to win the competition as well as make their plan a success.

With a well designed story plot, Farah adds charm of her direction in the film. As the duo Farah and SRK have given hits earlier like Main Hoon Na and Om Shanti Om, this one too is a regular Farah Khan flick.

The music by Vishal Shekhar again plays a very important part of the film, as the movie surrounds against the dance performances. Nevertheless, dialogues by SRK were done perfectly.

At first the film seems to be good but later on it becomes boring, just because of its long length.

Overall, the film is praised by the audience just like other Farah and SRK flicks.
