Dr Manisha Shrivastava, Director-in-charge of BMHRC, said that in the present times no one is untouched by stress. We all want to be free from stress in our lives and want to be happy, but many times we are not able to do so. To attain happiness, it is necessary to understand the science behind it.

To make people understand this whole concept , we’ve decided to start this course. If people remain happy, it will bring many big positive changes in their life. In the workplace, this happiness is reflected in the employees work output by being more productive, creative, enjoying one’s work, and being there for others. She told that although patients are given counseling on happiness and related subjects in the psychiatry department of BMHRC, but now with the opening of a separate centre, people will be able to know about this subject in detail. She said that with the starting of MBBS course in BMHRC from next year, the number of students will increase.

In such a situation, this happiness course will be very beneficial for maintaining happiness in their life and for their mental health.Dr. Satinder Singh Rekhi, founder of Rekhi Foundation for Happiness, said that the purpose of starting ‘Rekhi Centre of excellence for the science of happiness’ in BMHRC is to expand the practice and knowledge of “Happiness Science and Positive Psychology” from students to the people they meet in their professional and personal lives, thus growing exponentially in its reach while improving the lives of people at large.

The aim of the Centre is to promote research, training, education and the practice of well being for students and teachers through the principles of happiness and well being techniques. ‘Our research is based on the concept of improving the quality of people’s lives by focusing on knowledge that enhances positive emotions and positive relationships, he added. Currently, Rekhi Foundation has established happiness centers in over 25 universities across 5 countries and runs the course on “Science & Practice of Happiness” with the aim to impart knowledge pertaining to well-being practices and holistic self-development among students.
