Bhagoriya Haat ’ should not be misinterpreted as an occasion for solemnising marriages, but it is preparation of festival Holi in which goods for festival Holi are purchased, said General Secretary of the Aadivasi Mukti Sanghatan Gajanan Brahmane. He was talking to mediapersons here on Thursday in the light of the Bhagoriya dance tableau selected for the Republic Day parade in New Delhi.
The community chose the platform to address the issue as for the past several years the fest is interpreted in a distorted manner and they wanted to clarify the wrong concept about the fest as it would be showcased at the national level and at the level authentic information should be provided, said Brahmane.
He said that it is unfortunate that cultural identity of the community is connected with wrong and fake things, which should be stopped and correct presentation of those things should be done.
In the Bhagoriya Haat, marriages are not fixed and marriages which are auspicious occasion never happens during the fest, even auspicious work of any nature are not done till ‘Rangpanchmi’ from the time when wood is erected for ‘Holika Dahan’. With the aim to provide goods for Pooja during ‘Holika Dahan’ a ‘Haat’ is organised.
