Governor Ram Naresh Yadav has urged the people of Madhya Pradesh to serve the nation with commitment by drawing inspiration from the freedom fighters. Yadav was addressing an Independence Day function held at Ravindra Bhavan on Friday.

The programme was organised by Swaraj Sansthan Sanchanalay. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Minister of State for Culture Surendra Patwa and former Chief Minister Kailash Joshi were also present on the occasion. On popular demand, the CM also sang a patriotic song to mark the occasion. Singer couple Roop Kumar Rathore and Sonali Rathore were felicitated with shawls and coconuts.

Referring to personalities and events associated with freedom struggle, Yadav informed that everyone contributed to the fight to free India. Apart from political leaders and revolutionaries, roles of poets, shayars and litterateurs were also important. He called for observing Independence Day as a pledge day. People should realise their responsibilities and take a pledge for making India the world leader.

Congratulating farmers for good crops despite natural disasters, he said that they have achieved this remarkable success through cooperation of the State Government. As the Constitutional Head of the State, he assured his maximum cooperation in the efforts to make Madhya Pradesh the number one State.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that a new Madhya Pradesh has to be built where everyone including women, girls, youths and farmers move forward, no one sleeps hungry and where there is no poor and backward.

He said that efforts by one single person or section will not suffice for changing the state for better. Everyone should contribute their best. He said that Madhya Pradesh is growing at a rapid pace. It is the pioneer in the country with 24.99 per cent agriculture growth rate. A network of small and cottage industries will be laid in the State. For this, the State Government is taking guarantee of up to Rs1 crore loan to be taken by youths under Mukhyamantri Yuva Swarozgar Yojana.
