Madhya Pradesh Governor Ram Naresh Yadav on Tuesday broke his silence over the allegations being leveled against him in connection with the MP Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) scam.

While celebrating his 86th birthday on Tuesday, Yadav claimed that all the allegations are baseless and alleged that a conspiracy is being hatched against him. "Efforts are being made for my character assassination. If the allegations leveled against me are proved, I would not only resign from the office, but also ready to be hanged," he added.

The Governor further said that he has spent 60 years of political life and he has been on several important positions, but he never faced such allegations. He was talking to media persons in the Old Vidhan Sabha campus, after garlanding the statue of Mahatma Gandhi. He was of the view that Congress leaders should have approached him and talked in this regard, before talking to media persons directly.

Notably, for the past couple of weeks, it was being alleged that Yadav was also among those who had recommended for selections in examinations conducted by the MPPEB.The Governor's OSD has already been arrested in this regard.Besides, Congress leaders, who have been demanding Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's resignation over his alleged involvement in the scam, are also out seeking resignation of the Governor.

Two senior legislators of the party, Ajay Singh and Arif Aqeel, have already raised this demand alleging that there is a nexus between the Governor and the State government.
