While addressing a prize distribution programme of Madarsa Darul Uloom Hussainia here on Saturday, Governor Ram Naresh Yadav said that the role of Madarsas, Ulema and poets had been significant in India’s struggle for freedom.

“Our Ulema and great leaders are considered above all in national interests and they have sacrificed all they had for the country’s sake. Drawing inspiration from them, students should move forward with education and character-building,” Yadav said.

Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind’s national vice-president Mufti Abdur Razzaq Khan, Uttar Pradesh Jamiat Ulema’s president Maulana Ashhad Rasheedi, teachers and students were present on the occasion.

Yadav said that India is a secular country, where followers of all religions have equal rights. Religions give the message of peace, unity and to safeguard human values. He said that Islam teaches one should keep away from and prevent evils. He said that the Muslims and the Hindus had unitedly waged a war against the British rule. Yadav said that Madarsa teaching should be job-oriented. He exhorted the students not to be misled by others and to utilise opportunities and time to uplift their lives.

Mufti Abdur Razzaq Khan exhorted the students to respect the followers of all religions. All religions are equal. The biggest religion is to help the poor and the downtrodden. Mufti Abdur Razzaq said that “Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians have been living harmoniously in the country. We should be loyal to our country.”

The Governor and other guests were felicitated with shawls. Yadav gave certificates to meritorious students. Madarsa’s manager Haji Abdul Majeed proposed a vote of thanks.
