The process for the arrest of former Finance Minister started on Monday evening when Raghavji sent his two gunmen to the Habibganj police station to take stock of the looming police action.
There, the gunmen had some dispute with Rajkumar Dangi, complainant in the sodomy case against the Minister. later, Rajkumar levelled allegations of thrashing against them and the police personnel. later, the police officials caught both the gunmen and put them to interrogation. The two gunmen are said to have provided clues about the whereabouts of Raghavji. But the gunmen were not able to tell the exact building and flat where Raghavji was hiding. That is why the police first raided the Ashram of Maa Gita, sister of the former Minister. Thereafter, the building next to the Ashram was raided and an extensive search was launched in the locked flats of the adjacent building.
The flat in which Raghavji was hiding was locked. Police broke open the lock and arrested Raghavji who was inside the flat. Since it was about 2 am and the police did not wish to take him to the police station, cops were deployed in the flat and on Tuesday noon, they announced his arrest.
Soon after his arrest, the police made it clear that the former Minister would be produced in the court on Tuesday itself following which the court was turned into a cantonment. In the evening, he was produced before CJM Sushma Khosla. From there he was sent to jail till July 22.
Meanwhile, contrary to the claims of the police, Raghavji and his advocate Purshottam Panjwani claimed that the police did not arrest the Minister. They claimed that they had voluntarily called the police and told them about the location of the flat. However, SP South Anshuman Singh rejected the claims and asserted that Raghavji was arrested and if he wanted to surrender, he would not have applied for anticipatory bail.
