The State government has decided to reply to the Governor’s letter advising the CM to convene a special session of the State assembly to discuss the no-confidence motion brought by the Opposition Congress during the monsoon session of the House. The reply would be prepared after consultations with legal and Constitutional experts.
A decision in this regard was taken by the State Cabinet here on Monday at the Tribal Museum. It was decided that a final decision in this regard would be taken after consultations with Constitutional and legal experts from New Delhi and the Governor would be apprised of the government decision.
Notably, the Governor on Friday advised the State government to convene a special session of the House to discuss the no-confidence motion brought by the Opposition Congress during the monsoon session of the House that was abruptly adjourned sine die without discussing the listed no-trust move. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is exploring all legal and Constitutional options available on all points raised by the Governor.
He is holding discussions with senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders, legal and Constitutional experts. It is believed that the Chief Minister would apprise the Governor with the decision of the government.
Sources close to the Chief Minister said that the Chief Minister elicited the views of his Cabinet colleagues and a majority of the ministers opposed the idea of convening a special session of the House. Some ministers were of the view that the government should not act in haste and should consult some more experts before reaching a final decision.
