Far from State Government’s claim on making Madhya Pradesh a industry-friendly State, the industrialists who have already set their facilities in Madhya Pradesh and those who intend to do so in the future, still appear to be sceptical on the industrial policies of the Government.
Though the State Government has made a lot of provisions to lure investors and industrialists in Madhya Pradesh, the Government requires bringing about more clarity in its industrial policies like Gujarat which has an excellent industry-friendly atmosphere, says Sanjay Kirloskar, chairman and Managing Director of the Kirloskar Brothers talking to The Pioneer.
There needs to be a strong regulatory framework. It should be transparent and implemented properly. What I have observed that there is a lack of clarity as far as industrial policies of the Government of Madhya Pradesh is concerned. The Government need not to make frequent changes in its policies and it should be allowed to stay for a longer period which will help instill confidence among the entrepreneurs and industrialists, said Kirloskar who was in the city to celebrate golden jubilee of his Dewas manufacturing facility.
Talking about his company Kirloskar Brothers limited, the largest manufacturer and exporter of centrifugal pumps and valves from India, said that his company’s Dewas facility which had entered its fifth decades of operation in Madhya Pradesh, in the coming years would become the largest manufacturing facility of its group in the country. He said currently its Dewas facility is manufacturing 4.50 lakh pumps annually with a turnover of Rs 350. However, in the coming years, we intend to increase production capacity of our Dewas unit to 6 lakh pumps annually.
Notwithstanding emergence of various players in the pump industry in the country, his company Kirloskar Brothers which is synonymous to quality and credibility has been able to maintain its growth rate even during the period of economic slowdown. Kirloskar said with the expansion of the company’s manufacturing facilities within the country and abroad, the market share of the company is bound to grow to a higher-level from 12-15% currently.
Talking about its further expansion in Madhya Pradesh, Kirloskar said in addition to its 72 acres of plant area in Dewas, the company has acquired additional 48 acres of land adjacent to its existing plant site where the company has proposed to develop a vendor park in association with the Confederation of Indian Industries . Besides, he said the company is also working with the CII to make its Dewas facility as a completely green plant wherein by adopting innovative practices, we will cut down usage of power, water and raw material for reducing the cost and increasing, he added.
Subodh Shrivastav, Business Head, distribution & small operation, who looks after Dewas plant said that realising the importance of energy efficiency, the company’s Dewas facility has also started manufacturing energy efficient star-rated pumps and the same are being supplied across the country and Indian subcontinent, besides Africa and Europe.
In order to enable fair sex to get job opportunities in the company at par with their male counterparts, the company has recently hired 20 ITI trained female employees, said Shrivastav adding that the company in order to impart skill and industrial training among the youths of the State, particularly of the Malwa-Nimar region, had adopted an ITI at Newali in Khargone district where the company will impart multiple industrial training to the youths and would later engage them in the company.
