Labour, Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Prahlad Singh Patel said that giving pension to labourers above the age of 60 years working in the unorganized sector will be considered. Minister Patel was reviewing the provisions in government schemes regarding labourers not being eligible for benefits after the age of 60 years. Minister Patel said that there should be sensitivity while dealing with provisions and decisions regarding labourers.
Principal Secretary Labour Sachin Sinha, Labour Commissioner Sanjay Gupta, President, Asangathit Karmakar Mandal Sultan Singh Shekhawat, President, Labour Welfare Board Bhagwan Das Gondane and President, Building and Other Construction Workers Board Hemant Tiwari and other officers were present in the meeting.
Patel said in the meeting that after the registration of labourers is cancelled, the provision of appeal to the sub-divisional officer will be withdrawn. We will not allow any poor person to be harassed unnecessarily. The decision to make provision for appeal before the Chief Executive Officer of the District Panchayat or the Labour Board will be taken after consideration. He directed that sampling of any one district should be done to find out the reasons and their justification for the cancellation. This will ensure transparency in the system of cancellation of registration of labourers. At present 50 thousand kiosks are functioning in the state for registration.
Patel said that a decision will be taken after considering the issue of covering labourers working in the unorganized sector under the insurance scheme after the age of 45 years.
With this, the labourers will get pension benefits along with other amounts after the age of 60 years. Minister Patel reviewed various schemes run by Central and State Government for the labourers.
Patel also apprised about various provisions of Mukhyamantri Jan-Kalyan Sambal Yojana 2.0 and Mukhyamantri Jan-Kalyan Sambal Yojana 1.0. Minister Shri Patel also gave instructions to fill the vacant posts immediately.
