Though there is considerable gap between sowing operations, but it will hardly affect the yield. Farmers have been advised to engage in farming operations only in accordance with adverse weather conditions.
Directorate of Farmers Welfare and Agriculture Development has issued an advisory of farmers to undertake threshing soon after cutting of crops. It may be risky to stack cut crops in the field for long. Therefore, crops should be collected and kept at safe places at the earliest. Barns should be covered with tarpaulin. They should also be stacked away from power transformers.
According to the advisory, threshing should be done by forming small bunches to avoid moisture in harvested crop. Farmers should keep turning these bunches. If threshing is completed, food grains should be stored safely. For this, containers should be made clean and bacteria-free. According to the advisory, farmers should pay attention to weather forecasts. In this regard, the department is also sending SMSes to farmers.
