Govind Singh criticises Minister for inaction against corrupt contractors

Former minister and senior Congress leader Govind Singh has accused State Public Works Department Minister Nagendra Singh of involvement in corruption for not acting against contractors involved in constructing inferior quality roads despite an assurance to this effect earlier in the State Assembly.

Interacting with media at Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) office here on Monday, Govind Singh said that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has compromised the dignity of the House by false assurances.

The Congress leader said that he and BJP legislator Arvind Bhadoria had complained in the House in March that a firm Gangotri Enterprises had offered bribes to them for remaining quite about its malpractices and financial irregularities. He informed that he has lodged a complaint against the company and officials of Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation (MPRDC) with the lokayukta on Monday demanding that action should be taken against the guilty officials under Prevention of Corruption Act.

He alleged that the PWD minister had assured in the House on March 8 that he would take action against Gangotri Enterprises and officials concerned, but till date no action has been taken at all. “This clearly shows that the minister is himself involved in the corruption,” Govind Singh remarked.
