Government under lens in exam scam

Right to Information (RTI) activist from the State capital Ajay Dubey has raised doubts over the State Government’s intents in the infamous Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) scam.

Dubey asked as to why the banks bagged crores of rupees of MPPEB and why the sensitive records of the board were destroyed against rules by its then chairman.

Dubey said that he had received one more report through the RTI in the scam probably the largest educational scam of the country that destroyed future of State’s youths, showing black past of the MPPEB.

This report is of local Fund Audit of Madhya Pradesh Government and was submitted in the year 2008. But at the place of acting on the report, the Technical Education Department of the MP Government and the MPPEB management, through very objectionable and criminal way, buried it forever due to that the accused of the scam got chance to flourish besides getting patronage, he added.

He said that it is due to this criminal negligence that by 2013 the accused minted money and the MPPEB was changed into a major corruption Centre with Government and political patronage.

Dubey, also a member of Transparency International  alleged that misappropriation to the tune of over Rs 5 crore was also done in the sale of application forms in the year 2006 because the banks that sold these forms did not pay the amount to the board till now. No record of sales of forms was maintained and more number of forms was sold under conspiracy, he added.

He said that according to the report obtained through RTI, the then chairman of the board was indulged in gross violations of the MP Finance Code and sold in scarp the unsold application forms that were worth Rs 1.41 crore. As per rules these forms should not be destroyed but was done in order to destroy the evidences of the scam, he added.
