The State Congress on Wednesday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government in Madhya Pradesh, which was facing corruption, scams and rampart crimes, of insulting former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee who was awarded with country’s highest civilian award of‘Bharat Ratna’ by observing ‘Good Governance Day’ on his birthday.
Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) chief spokesman KK Mishra in a statement here said that Vajpayee was a great leader who devoted his life serving nation par politics and remained dedicated to his values and ideals. “Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led BJP Government of the State by observing ‘Good Governance Day’ on birthday of such great leader who set examples of values and ideals in the politics is insult to him,” Mishra said.
Mishra further said it was unfortunate that the birthday of such a leader was observed as ‘Good Governance Day’ by the State that had become capital of corruption and heaven for criminals. It was painful to see that the State where corruption, scams, murders, rapes, gang rapes, sexual harassment, kidnappings, dacoities, ransom, worst law and order had become a common thing was celebrating ‘Good Governance Day’ that too on the birthday of such a great leader who not only set many examples of values and ideals before the country but also made the whole humanity proud by giving suggestion of following Rajdharma to the then Gujarat chief minister and now prime minister of the country Narendra Modi after the state sponsored Gujarat riots, he added.
He said that Madhya Pradesh was the State where political patronage was provided to various mafias including sand, liquor, mineral, land, building, education and medical and, bureaucracy and criminals run parallel government. Thus, it would be better that instead of observing ‘Good Governance Day’, the Government and the Chief Minister should observe penance day.
