The Bhopal art lovers are having a close look at the beautiful paintings of Gond Tribe. “Shalaka 9”, an exhibition of paintings by the young painter of the Gond community, Rita Shyam, is being exhibited in the ‘Likhandara Gallery’ of Madhya Pradesh Tribal Museum. The painting exhibition that began in the first week of December, will be put up till December 31.
In her paintings, the rhythmic motifs are combined with some grey shades. Rita does not use very bright colours in her paintings, yet the rhythm of the shapes and the strong streaks of the lines makes her pictures attractive. Rita Gond is a highly unlikely painter of the second generation of painters, who are constantly working in Bhopal to take her paintings to a new top.
Hailing from Bhopal, Rita Shyam is a young painter of the Gond tribe of Madhya Pradesh. Elementary education was done in Bhopal itself. Looking at the painters of the community around them, the artist was also awakened. As a result of this, she too began to imprint her ethnic memories and gradually Rita began to experience a unique pleasure in drawing. The construction of painting was done to such an extent that it does not leave its place without painting. Seeing Rita’s keen interest in colours and shapes, her family also encouraged her to participate in various painting training workshops, painting camps.
The training programme of TRIFED showed Rita a different possibility in her painting, which resulted in sharpness in the understanding of colours and shapes. Rita did not stop her creativity after this. Though living in Bhopal, the effect of the rural environment and rural life is not seen in his paintings, yet he enjoys making shapes of animals and birds. Their created shapes contain many shapes, such as a lot happening at the same time.
