Congressmen seeking tickets for the forthcoming local body elections in Madhya Pradesh entered into a brawl on Tuesday at the State Congress Office forcing the police to intervene.
Since, nobody reported the incident to police, no FIR has been registered. However, State Congress vice-president Manak Agrawal has alleged that supporters of former PCC Chief Suresh Pachouri had attacked him and his supporters at the PCC.
Two groups of Congress workers were enraged over the issue of distribution of tickets for local body elections and exchanged blows forcing senior party leaders including State Congress vice-president, Manak Agrawal, Chief Spokesman KK Mishra and Spokesman JP Dhanopia to intervene. After the situation went out of control, the police intervened to control the situation.
Dhanopia blamed BJP and RSS workers for orchestrating the brawl to defame the Congress before local body elections.
However, Habibganj area’s City Superintendent of Police (CSP) Jayant Singh Rathore said that police did not enter the State Congress Office, though as a precautionary measure, the police have been deployed in strength at the State Congress Office. No report in this regard has been filed by anyone with the police, he said.
Notably, Agrawal was facing problems as he was dissociated from the ticket distribution system. Two days ago, he had demanded tickets for his supporters in Hoshangabad region, stating that he would go to the extent of tendering resignation on Wednesday.
later, on Tuesday morning, PCC Chief Arun Yadav had met Agrawal and agreed him to support the selection process. However, within hours, Agrawal faced problems as a group of local leaders attacked Agrawal and his supporters in the PCC.
