For Chinmayee Nayak (23), love is a matter of soul, not of body as such. She fell in love with a physically-handicapped youth and tied nuptial knot with him. And, she has been leading a happy conjugal life for the last two years. Her family members did not accept her marriage to a physically disabled youth but she was dead set to marry Ananta Kumar Sahu, a resident of Chhanchunia village under Gualasingh GP of Derabish block. The duo’s love affairs started when both were studying in high school. Ananta, who was afflicted with polio from his birth fell in love at first sight. But he couldn't express his feeling to Chinmayee as he feared that Chinmayee might reject his proposal for his disability. However, subsequently, Chinmayee reciprocated his feelings.“Though my husband is physically disabled but he holds a good heart for me. It is important to develop relationship with a person having a good heart as with the passage of time, beauty and charm would fade away," said Chinmayee.
She said despite repeated appeal, her parents did not accept the proposal of her marriage. She had to leave her house and got married with Ananta in 2018. “I am fortunate that I got my lady love as my wife. Chinmayee is a nice human being as she accepted me despite my physical deformities," said Ananta, who runs a cell phone shop at Thakurapatana chowk.
While celebrating the Valentine’s Day on Sunday, the duo couple said, "Today's generation has become materialistic and is more concerned about physical charm than real emotions.
The purest of all emotions which is love is being treated cheap. But true lovers should value for emotions."
