Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Thawar Chand Gehlot reached Vilayat Kalan village of Katni district and Devra village of Umariya district and honoured the families of the martyrs, ensuring them that the Government and society would always remember the martyrdom of their kin.
Gehlot said that, “The sympathy of the Central and State Governments would always be with you.” The Union Minister started the 20-km Tiranga Yatra by two-wheelers from Chandiya in Umariya district.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched the countrywide programme of Tiranga Yatra for regenerating the spirit and passion of freedom struggle in the young generation.
Senior party office-bearers, Union Ministers, parliamentarians, legislators and other elected representatives are meeting the people face-to-face through these Yatras, he added.
Gehlot said, “The Tiranga Yatras have been useful in making the young generation aware with the information of sacrifices of the freedom-fighters. The youngsters reached the workplaces, birthplaces and cemeteries and paid homage to them and got blessed.”
He said that during long spell of freedom struggle the freedom-fighters bore tortures, left homes but kept on fighting the Britishers. “Today, we are breathing freely in the independent country for that we would always remain indebted to them,” he added. He paid floral tributes at the statue of great revolutionary Birsa Munda in Chandiya and honoured Gulzar Singh, a family member of great martyr Bhup Singh and Shanti Singh wife of martyr Saitaram Singh by presenting them Shawl and Shrifal.
